"Trustworthy - I felt I could trust him with my son’s life. Of course I had few options because his heart needed repair but from the moment Dr. Said walked in the door, I felt at ease.

He described what would happen in solid detail. I didn’t feel too overwhelmed listening to him. I know this because I could repeat back to him what I got out of his medical jargon & he comfortably broke it down for me to truly comprehend. I appreciate this so much being foreign from the medical world.

Besides being incredibly brilliant, he also had wonderful bedside manner. He made my son feel “seen & heard” as well as his parents. I didn’t once feel like I was being treated as another name on another file. I felt a mutual respect which doesn’t always come naturally for doctors/surgeons.

When my son had to have a SECOND open heart surgery within a week from the first, it was a very difficult moment. However Dr. Said made the news easier to handle because of his confidence. He was knew what happened, he knew how to fix it & he knew he could do it. What more could I ask for from a surgeon as a mom? Dr. Said will forever be someone I keep close in my heart. He will be treasured by anyone who works with him."

"It has been almost seven months since Dr. Said performed the Ross procedure on my 62-year old heart. I realized that any other doctor would have given me the standard two options for aortic valve replacement. Although they are life-saving, I know they come with issues. I am so very grateful that Dr. Said offered me a third option. Thank you!

I am active in the garden and have even started my own gardening blog. We hiked in Colorado over labor day and plan to go skiing in February. I feel great-better than I have in years. Thank you for taking the care to preserve my lifestyle."

"One year ago today, Dr. Said spent 8 long hours operating on me to replace my mitral and tricuspid valves. Nineteen days later, I was released from the hospital and returned home.

My cardiologist regularly says, “Why didn’t we do this to start with?” So far, my health has been good and my quality of life is wonderful. Within reason, I am able to do pretty much what I want to do.

We think of Dr. Said often and thank God for the skills he has that lengthened his life. We thank Dr. Said from the bottom of our hearts for his excellent care. "

"I feel stronger every day and the new heart is just incredible. Well worth the struggle of recovery. I am also pleased with the scar and I am hopeful that the rate and rhythm will eventually become stable so no further intervention is needed. Fingers crossed!

"Dr. Said and his team were excellent. Within a comfortable professionalism, they were sensitive, kind and caring. They took the time to explain my status and answer my questions in an easily understood manner. They were aware of my clinical status at all times as they made frequent visits in the intensive care unit and step-down unit; not just daily, but two to three times a day.

My clinical situation was complicated. I had had previous mitral and aortic mechanical valves implanted as well as a repair of the tricuspid valve. Despite months of monitoring and blood thinner adjustments by my local physicians, I continued to have MRI evidence and some clinical evidence of strokes. As a result, surgery was planned to replace the mechanical valves with tissue valves. On the Monday before the planned surgery on Friday, I had a stroke while staying in a hotel in Rochester. This resulted in ER admission and hospitalization until the heart surgery on Friday. I have recovered from surgery and have no weakness from the strokes thanks to the care at St. Mary's in Rochester, MN. I am participating in a local cardiac rehab program and I am able to walk up to 2 miles without problems. "
